Bucerius IP Conference 2012

Inauguration of the Center for Transnational IP, Media and Technology Law and Policy at Bucerius Law School

"The Access Challenge in the 21st Century: Emerging Issues in Intellectual Property Laws and Knowledge Governance", an academic conference, was held from May 18-19, 2012 to celebrate the inauguration of the Center for Transnational IP, Media and Technology Law and Policy at Bucerius Law School. The up-and-coming fields of IP and IT Law, which have already come into focus through a series of lectures that began in 2009, have now been formally embedded in the university. The Center was made possible with generous assistance from law firm DLA Piper, represented at the opening by partner Dr. Jan Geert Meents.

At the ceremonial presentation of the golden key, Professor Dr. Dana Beldiman, Director of the Center, said she was pleased that such an international group of participants including more than 100 senior researchers and practitioners had accepted the invitation to come to Hamburg. With this impressive concentration of "IP brainpower," Beldiman said, the inaugural two-day conference was a forum that would contribute new ideas to the global reach of research in these emerging areas of law.
